The Catalytic Fund – Africa
Catalytic capital for grassroots-led transformation - Africa
The Grassroots Catalytic Fund – Africa supports rural communities, producer groups, and mission-driven local enterprises with context-sensitive advisory, catalytic financing, and ecosystem partnerships to build resilient and inclusive economies.
We ally with local actors to build capacities, and develop mentorship programs, and encouragement. Along with enabling access to quick, catalytic and loss-mitigating financing to – especially farmer communities and market development actors.
How the fund works
Through Allyship, Advisory and Capacitation
“Year after year we are left on our own… no one cares about poor farmers! The government keeps pushing us to work harder but they are not here when catastrophe hits” a farmer in Mayuge, 2023.
This is a cry of loneliness – a cry for allyship, and this is a gap we have kept filling for many years.
We listen, gather knoledge, joint-strategize through a problem-solving approach, capacitate, mentor, and keep in long-term dialogue with the communities.
Enabling - Mobilizing Funding
Think about this – at least two billion people in rural farmer communities face intensifying challenges to their livelihoods due to fluctuating crop prices, extreme weather disruptions, post-harvest losses, and failure to access to loss-mitigating capital – FAO & IFAD, 2023.
To be part of the solution, we facilitate a fund that enables access to affordable, catalytic, and loss-mitigating financing to grassroots agricultural communities and agricultural market development entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa.
